Travel ideas
Two different ways to discover the coast: here’s what to consider before deciding.
On a boat, the day is organised around the sea. You can alternate sailing, harbours and stops, with the flexibility the conditions allow. On land, you have a fixed base and simpler travel. The choice depends on how much you want to take part in life on board.
A boat is a compact home: cabins, galley and cockpit are shared. It’s a pleasant way to be together if the crew gets on well, but it requires cooperation and a little adaptation. Compare the layout of cabins and bathrooms before choosing, especially if you travel with children or large groups.
Wind and sea can change plans, so a sailing holiday works best with a flexible itinerary. To sail the boat without a skipper you need adequate experience and licences. If you want to try sailing but prefer not to skipper, ask whether a skipper is available and at what cost.
