A week on a sailboat: how to prepare it

Boat, crew, timing and route: the choices that make departure easier.

Before booking

Decide how many people will sleep on board and how they prefer to share the cabins. Check capacity, bathrooms and security deposit, not just the length of the boat. Also decide whether you will sail without a skipper: tell the base about your experience and sailing licences so it can assess your request.

A flexible route

Choose a sailing area, then assess stops and distances with the forecast close to departure. From the Gulf of La Spezia you can explore the Ligurian coast; from Livorno, in summer, you can look towards the Tuscan Archipelago. Don’t plan every night in a different place: a spare day helps you sail without rushing.

Check-in day

Keep your documents, crew details and charter information to hand. Allow time for checking the boat, for explanations of the equipment and for the handover. With the 2027 price list, weekly boarding is on Saturday at 6:00 pm, with return the following Saturday at 9:00 am and back at base the evening before; always confirm the times in your quote.
